  • No. While we will be covering medicinal and edible aspects of plants along the walk, and how to identify them, we will not be harvesting.

  • While there will be similarities in route and plants covered, each walk will be slightly different as the plants continue to grow and blossom through early spring.

If you’re interested in seeing how plants shift over time, I recommend joining for more than one walk!

  • This walk is focused on edible and medicinal springtime plants growing in Golden Gate Park. Each walk is slightly different, but you can expect to learn:

    • a little history of the park and the land

    • identification and edible & medicinal qualities of: nettle, rooreh (winter purslane), chickweed, cleavers, oxalis, three-cornered leek, nasturtium

Of course, there are many more plants! Depending on the growing cycle and time available on the walk, we may also explore: oat, dandelion, plantain, eucalyptus, wild radish, wild mustard, blackberry, tea tree, red root, fennel, yarrow, wormwood, california poppy, borage, or hawthorn.
